Corso’s pick certainly does not reflect the betting lines for Monday’s game, as the Bulldogs opened betting as a nearly two touchdown favorite over the Horned Frogs. The nation disagreed with Corso as well, with 58 percent of fans voting for the Bulldogs in the fan vote.

Georgia is pursuing a back-to-back national title and would become just the third team since 1970 to win repeat national championships. The past two teams to accomplish the difficult feat were Nebraska in 1994-95, and Alabama in 2011-12. They would also become the first team in the College Football Playoff era to win back-to-back titles.

The win would also certainly etch the names of coach Kirby Smart and quarterback Stetson Bennett in the college football history books. The Bulldogs went 41 years without a title after winning in 1980 before last season’s accomplishment, and are poised to win their fourth title in school history with a win tonight.

On the other side of the field, the Horned Frogs surprised the entire nation by continuing their dominance as teams fell out of the CFP rankings around them. TCU finished the regular season undefeated alongside Georgia, but stumbled in the Big 12 title game with an overtime loss to Kansas State.

Despite the slip-up, they secured their berth in the College Football Playoff and knocked off Michigan in the semifinal to earn a trip to the national championship.
