2024 Five-Star Liam McNeeley talks latest offers from Michigan, Arkansas
On3 updated its 2024 player rankings earlier this month, and Liam McNeeley rose all the way to No. 10 overall. The 6-foot-7, 205-pound small forward is currently in the middle of his junior year season at powerhouse Montverde (Fla.) Academy. He holds roughly 20 scholarship, with his two latest coming from Michigan and Arkansas.
McNeeley, a Dallas native, broke down his two most recent offers and discussed other programs involved.
Liam McNeeley talks Arkansas and Michigan
Michigan: “Coach (Juwan) Howard, talks to me every week. We talk on the phone, we text. He’s obviously a great basketball mind, playing in the NBA and playing in Michigan and now coaching at Michigan. He is coaching his son right now, Jett, and he’s doing really good, so it’s good to see. I’m excited to grow that relationship.”
Arkansas: “Coach Muss, I really like his energy. He’s a fun guy. They’re doing pretty well this season. They’re ranked pretty high. I know some guys on the team, Anthony Black, Jordan Walsh. They’re both from Dallas. So it’s cool to have that connection.”
Oklahoma, Texas, Indiana also pushing
Oklahoma is a program that has started to ramp things up with McNeeley.
“They’re picking it up right now,” McNeeley said of Oklahoma. “They just lost to Kansas by four the other week. But they’re making noise. I really like how they play.”

McNeeley also mentioned that Oklahoma is one of the many schools that is trying to get him on campus, however, he says he’s currently focused on the season, and will not take any visits until after.
Texas and Indiana are two more programs that he says are heavily involved. The Hoosiers hosted McNeeley for an official visit in September and he’s visited the Longhorns a handful of times unofficially.
“Indiana shows so much love,” he says. “They lost a couple of their starters so they’ve lost a couple of games but they’re obviously super well-coached, got great fans. I know some guys on their team. When I took my visit, I loved it.”
Timetable for a decision?
McNeeley is not in any rush to make a decision. He says one will likely come after the AAU season or maybe into his senior year.
“Just whenever I feel like it’s right and I’ve made my decision,” he says.
