Liberty expected to hire West Virginia wide receivers coach Tony Washington

Liberty is expected to hire West Virginia wide receivers coach Tony Washington as its wide receivers coach, sources tell On3.

Washington, a former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, previously worked under new Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell as the wide receivers coach at Coastal Carolina in 2020 and ’21.

Under Washington, three different West Virginia wide receivers had more than 45 catches and at least 500 receiving yards this season. At Coastal, Washington helped wide receiver Jaivon Heiligh accumulate 131 catches, 2,126 yards and 17 touchdowns his final two college seasons, including 66 catches for 1,128 yards and seven scores in 2021.

Prior to Coastal Carolina, Washington was a graduate assistant at Louisville (2019) and a quality control assistant at ECU (2018).
