Linebacker David Gbenda plants Texas flag at Michigan 50-yard line
Texas put together one of the most dominant and impressive wins of the early season on Saturday, stomping Michigan 31-12 in the Big House.
And the Longhorns attempted to add some insult to injury following the game.
Linebacker David Gbenda found himself in possession of a huge white and burnt orange Texas flag with the Longhorns logo on it after the final whistle sounded. And when you’ve got a flag that big, there’s only one logical place to head with it. Right to the midfield logo.
Gbenda did his best to plant the flag right on the 50-yard line, though he ultimately couldn’t make it stick and the flag fluttered to the ground. Check it out below.

Steve Sarkisian pleased with Texas’ balance
The Longhorns’ defense did a great job limiting the Wolverines to just two field goals before a late garbage-time score. Meanwhile, the offense had a great blend of running and passing. Quinn Ewers led the charge and the running backs combined for 143 yards on the ground.

As coach Steve Sarkisian put it, it was critical for the Longhorns Saturday.
“Well, that’s critical for us as a team, right,” Sarkisian said on the FOX broadcast to Jenny Taft. “When we can run it, throw it, screen, it, RPO, all the things that we like to do, we can find balance and we’re usually doing alright.
“Well, I liked our poise and composure, we knew that was going to be needed today. That’s a really good team. They’re a really physical team. I thought we handled the environment early on and found our rhythm.”
Texas certainly set the tone by jumping out to an early lead, and the Longhorns never really took their foot off the gas in the win.
Win like that and you get the opportunity to plant the flag at midfield. Job well done, Texas.
