Terrion Arnold saw his college career end at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, losing to Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals. A tough one to swallow, Arnold soon entered the 2024 NFL Draft and wound up in Wolverine country. Detroit is now his home as Arnold goes through his rookie season with the Lions.

But being the basketball fan he is, passing up an opportunity to see Michigan play was too good to pass up. Miami (OH) was at the Crisler Center and Arnold was shown on the big screen. He was asked to give a “Go Blue” and was given a maize shirt to wear.

Instead, a big “Roll Tide” came from Arnold, staying loyal to the Alabama Crimson Tide. A funny moment considering what many Michigan fans will consider a fond memory out in Pasadena, while the now-Lions DB likely not wanting to remember that loss.

Arnold did not fill up the stat sheet but had a decent day against Michigan. Two tackles and a PBU against a talented Wolverines offense are not too bad, even if the game resulted in a loss.

Going back to when Arnold originally committed to Alabama, the original plan was to play both basketball and football. Many considered him good enough in both sports. There was a conversation at one point with Nate Oats in the summer of 2022 and Arnold wanted to play.

“I just talked to Coach Oats the other day,” Arnold said. “He was like ‘So, we talked about you doing it last year’ and I was like ‘Coach, I had to find my groove but I’m going to do it this year. I’m going to play this year for real.’”

However, as many do at Alabama, Arnold decided football was a priority. He shut down the idea of playing basketball ahead of the 2023 season. The move certainly worked out as Arnold had a great junior year and heard his name called by Roger Goodell.

It might not be Alabama but Arnold still found a way to get his basketball fix in.
