Live Updates: Under Armour All-America Game Practice Day 1

Live Updates from Under Armour All-America Game Practice

12:45 p.m. ET: Colorado four-star running back signee Dylan Edwards won the Fastest Man Challenge with a time of 4.41 seconds. Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor recorded a time of 4.42 seconds. — On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire

12:28 p.m. ET: After watching the 11-on-11 session, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power provided some takeaways:

“Some standouts from watching Team Speed’s 11-on-11 session. Clemson (five-star) defensive lineman (signee) Peter Woods was very disruptive as an interior pass rusher. Got upfield on several occasions, creating pressure and making plays behind the line of scrimmage. Ole Miss four-star linebacker signee Suntarine Perkins continued to show his range, running sideline-to-sideline, also very physical, popping pads as a run defender and just a physical presence in defending running backs and just bringing guys down.

“Texas (four-star cornerback) signee Malik Muhammad lined up as a nickel and made a number of plays in coverage, including an interception that may have gone for a pick-six if we were playing on a full field. I thought LSU (five-star) offensive tackle signee Zalance Heard held up fairly well in pass protection. Alabama (five-star) cornerback signee Desmond Ricks showed good awareness and cover skills as outside corner, didn’t give up a ton when tested.

“Among the quarterbacks, a little bit of a mixed bag with (Kansas State four-star signee) Avery Johnson and (Iowa State four-star signee) JJ Kohl. Avery Johnson, I thought his velocity got a little better as the day went on. Still misfired a couple throws and I think he’s still getting on the same page as some of the receivers. JJ Kohl stood tall in the pocket, showed good arm strength. I thought he looked pretty good throwing over the middle of the field for stretches today.”

11:42 a.m. ET: After watching the one-on-one period, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power provided some takeaways:

“For Team Phantom, a couple standouts. Nyckolas Harbor‘s speed was readily evident. He’s still not a natural catcher, but he was able to get vertical on defensive backs and corners. Had two touchdown catches, just using his speed to separate. Came down with one ball in tight quarters, but also had a drop go off his hands. (Texas four-star wide receiver signee) Johntay Cook II showed off his route running with the ability to separate and create space with his quickness.

Zachariah Branch, USC signee, just his considerable burst, separating underneath and breaking off what would have been a long catch-and-run against Texas (four-star cornerback) signee Malik Muhammad. Desmond Ricks, Alabama (five-star cornerback) signee, had a good rep against (Ohio State On3 five-star wide receiver signee) Noah Rogers. Rogers could have come down with the catch, but did not.

“Caught a couple quick one-on-one reps of the (offensive linemen and defensive linemen) on Team Speed and (Alabama four-star EDGE signee) Jordan Renaud continued to impress. Lined up inside and in one with a quick rip move. He continues to really be the standout on the defensive line here. Adepoju Adebawore, Oklahoma five-star (EDGE) signee, also had a good one-on-one session.”

11:35 a.m. ET: Texas A&M Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman signee David Hicks just had a monstrous bull rush that left Florida four-star interior offensive lineman signee Roderick Kearney in his back. Hicks stood over Kearney for a few seconds after the rep. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

11:17 a.m. ET: Miami four-star EDGE signee Rueben Bain just walked Alabama four-star offensive tackle signee Olinas Alinen back to the quarterback in one-on-ones. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

10:51 a.m. ET: A defensive line coach after one of Alabama four-star EDGE signee Jordan Renaud‘s reps: “Oh, I like that!” — On3 Recruiting Reporter Joseph Hastings

10:49 a.m. ET: USC Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver signee Zachariah Branch is working as the punt returner for Team Phantom. He’s one of the best return men in the country and arguably the most explosive skill player in high school football. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:48 a.m. ET: We’re working on punt team at the moment. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:45 a.m. ET: Alabama four-star EDGE signee Jordan Renaud continues to be a standout in the defensive line groups. He’s explosive and shows flexibility along with violent hands. He is drawing praise from the coaches for his effort in bag drills. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:45 a.m. ET: Miami four-star EDGE signee Rueben Bain, Florida four-star defensive lineman signee Will Norman, Alabama four-star EDGE signee Jordan Renaud and UCF four-star defensive lineman signee John Walker are explosive in bag drills during the individual period. — On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire

10:39 a.m. ET: Miami four-star EDGE signee Rueben Bain has a tweener build, but has impressed us with his burst and bend off the line in bay drills. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:35 a.m. ET: UCF four-star defensive lineman signee John Walker has been impressive in this particular drill as well. He has powerful hands and good leverage. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

10:34 a.m. ET: Georgia four-star EDGE signee Samuel M’Pemba is showing an explosive strike in this drill. He looks to have easy speed and explosiveness. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

10:33 a.m. ET: Oklahoma Five-Star Plus+ quarterback signee Jackson Arnold and Florida four-star quarterback signee Jaden Rashada are making running back wheel route throws look easy. Both are very natural throwers with some beautiful, tight spirals. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:32 a.m. ET: Staten Island (N.Y.) four-star EDGE Cameron Lenhardt draws praise from a defensive line coach after quickly picking up on a minor detail he missed in the first rep of a drill. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

10:30 a.m. ET: We’re in individual drills. A strong wide receiver group for Team Phantom — Ohio State On3 five-star signee Noah Rogers, USC five-star wide receiver signee Makai Lemon and Ole Miss four-star wide receiver signee Ayden Williams — have impressed with their route running in routes on air. Iowa State four-star quarterback signee JJ Kohl is throwing the ball well early. No surprise, but Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor has considerable burst. He’s more of a body catcher at this point. Meanwhile, LSU On3 five-star wide receiver signee Shelton Sampson Jr. has been hit or miss in coming down with catches early on. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

10:19 a.m. ET: Florida four-star cornerback signee Ja’Keem Jackson stands out among the defensive backs with his length and frame. He should benefit from time in the strength and conditioning program too. He is relatively undeveloped in terms of muscle mass. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

9:57 a.m. ET: We’re now in the dynamic warmup period before things officially get going. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

9:56 a.m. ET: Watching Team Speed walk through a team session. Oklahoma Five-Star Plus+ quarterback signee Jackson Arnold delivers a nice pass to Notre Dame four-star wide receiver signee Braylon James on an out-breaking route, but James can’t corral it. Miami four-star EDGE signee Rueben Bain and UCF four-star defensive lineman signee John Walker generate pressure on the next play. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

9:45 a.m. ET: Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll five-star athlete Nyckolas Harbor is making one-handed snags while warming up. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

9:44 a.m. ET: Just an interesting note. Texas A&M Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman signee David Hicks came out early to get some work alone. Worked some pass rush moved on the goal post. Did it last night after practice, as well. — On3 National Recruiting Writer Jeremy Johnson

9:42 a.m. ET: Players are beginning to filter onto the fields to warm up with their position groups. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
