Houston, Texas — Sixty-two of the top players in the country will be in Houston this weekend to take part in the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team minicamp. Members of the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes were selected to be a part of this invite-only event, in conjunction with the 2023 NCAA Final Four. 

On3 attended practice one and two to get eyes on all the new young talent and future stars.

8:36 p.m. CT: Meleek Thomas is an electric scorer. His eyes are to the rim and he can get the shot off in any situation. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

8:18 p.m. CT: I’m really intrigued by 2026 prospect Cam Holmes. He is getting buckets and just pulled one from deep. Holmes really gets after it defensively and is the younger brother of Dayton forward DaRon Holmes. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

8:14 p.m. CT: With the game on the line, you’d be hard pressed to find someone as reliable as Boogie Fland to make a play. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

8:13 p.m. CT: I have been really impressed with 2025 four-star point guard Mikel Brown Jr. He can really score it and finds his teammates well. Brown Jr. is also not afraid of the moment and plays with confidence. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

8:09 p.m. CT: Five-star point guard Boogie Fland plays with a business mentality at all times. He is fast with the ball, but not out of control. His jump shot is a weapon as well. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

8:06 p.m. CT: 2025 five-star small forward Koa Peat is a man amongst boys. He can push the break at 6-foot-8 and is college ready with a football body. Peat is also confident shooting the three. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

8:00 p.m. CT: 2026 small forward Caleb Holt has been a menace guarding the ball and creating offense out of his defense. He is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

7:56 p.m. CT: 2026 power forward Sam Funches is an intriguing long term prospect. The 6-foot-9 freshman has great length and he moves naturally in all directions. He will need some seasoning, but he is one to continue watching. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

7:46 p.m. CT: I love the connective pieces to four-star shooting guard Annor Boateng’s game. He can play multiple positions on the floor, both offensively and defensively. He has excellent vision and is a good defender, can rebound and makes things flow. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

7:38 p.m. CT: 2025 On3 four-star point guard Jeremiah Fears is showing good defensive instincts. He is comfortable with the ball in hands and has a knack for scoring. He is the younger brother of Jeremy Fears, a four-star Michigan State signee. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

7:27 p.m. CT: It’s been an impressive start to the day for Rutgers five-star power forward commit Ace Bailey. He is 6-foot-9, he can score off the bounce, the catch, and play above the rim. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

7:10 p.m. CT: How do you classify five-star combo guard Dylan Harper? He is a basketball player, someone who is comfortable on the ball and making plays for everyone on the floor, including himself. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

7:09 p.m. CT: 2025 five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas has some electricity to his game on both ends of the floor. He is a shot maker, but is also playing tough defense in the small-sided games. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

7:05 p.m. CT: Caleb Wilson has really been affecting shots around the rim. He has the potential to be an elite defensive prospect and has great timing for blocking shots. Wilson has also shown flashes offensively. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

6:52 p.m. CT: 2025 five-star power forward Bryson Tiller already has a college ready body. He is 6-foot-8 forward from Overtime Elite in Atlanta. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

6:50 p.m. CT: Shooting drills have moved from catch and shoot to one dribble pull ups. Four-star small forward Carter Bryant looks very fluid on the catch and getting into his shot. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst

6:48 p.m. CT: North Carolina five-star shooting guard commit Ian Jackson has shown his leadership in the early going. He is communicating with his teammates, encouraging his guys and taking this seriously. — Joe Tipton, National Recruiting Expert

6:48 p.m. CT: Now, players are breaking off now into shooting drills. Five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson has great balance on his jump shot and the release does not change, no matter what level he is on the floor. — Jamie Shaw, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst
