LJ Thomas, a 6-foot-2 point guard out of Atlanta (Ga.) Bull City Prep tells On3 he is down to six options – Memphis, Ole Miss, NC State, Georgia, Houston, and the Overtime Elite league.

Thomas has taken unofficial visits to both NC State and Georgia. He says he will take an official visit to Ole Miss on Sept. 18th. A visit to Memphis is currently in the works.

LJ Thomas discussed each option with On3.

Thomas on Memphis

“They have a great coaching staff…an NBA coaching staff,” Thomas said. “It’s very appealing. Coach Penny (Hardaway) is an all-time legend. Larry Brown, all-time legend. They just have a great situation for point guards, me coming in and being able to play big minutes.”

Thomas on Ole Miss

“They’ve built a great relationship with me,” Thomas said. “Their coaches have been good and communicate with me. They just walk me through how I can impact their program.”

Thomas on NC State

“They have a great program,” Thomas said. “You can’t go wrong playing in the ACC.”

Thomas took an unofficial visit the see the Wolfpack in June.

“It was a great visit, good coaching staff,” Thomas said. “Just a good atmosphere. I liked the way the coaching staff interacted with the players. Coach (Kevin) Keatts is just a smooth dude, good guy.”

Thomas on Georgia

“It would be a really good feeling to play for the old crowd,” Thomas said.

Last year, Thomas moved from Atlanta, Georgia to North Carolina.

“Family can come, friends can come. Coach (Tom) Crean knows what he’s doing,” Thomas said. “Being in that situation, I could come in and play big minutes. Tom Crean has coached a lot of good players, Dwayne Wade, Victor Oladipo, Ant-Man (Anthony Edwards). They have a great situation.”

Thomas on Houston

“Houston is a great program,” Thomas said. “I like the way Coach (Kelvin) Sampson lets his guards play. They made it to the Final Four. Great energy, great vibes. A lot of people have good things to say about Houston.”

Thomas on the Overtime Elite league

“They want me to bypass my senior year and go up there,” Thomas said. “I actually went to a minicamp there about a month ago. It was basically a visit to see the players and get a feel for it. It was a good feel, so that’s why I put it in my top six. I didn’t want to rule it out yet. It’s new but it seems like it could be something that could develop into being something good.”
