NEW ORLEANS — As we delve deeper into the offseason, more and more recruits are emerging in the Class of 2024.

On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman was on hand for the Battle 7-on-7 stop in New Orleans and details some of the top underclassmen that stood out and could be among the popular names among college coaches when they hit the road late next month.

CB Kyle Williams (2024)

Kyle Williams was injured for part of his sophomore season, but the 6-foot, 185-pounder has regained his form this spring and brings a big frame and fantastic instincts to the secondary. He’s disciplined, reactive and possesses elite closing speed and a massive wingspan in coverage. He’s a Power 5 cornerback that should command plenty of eyes this spring.

CB Bernard Causey (2024)

Bernard Causey, at 6-foot and 170 pounds, is long and moves seamlessly around in coverage. The New Orleans native moves effortlessly, and as a young defensive back brings a ton of upside to the position. Causey also has great ball skills and a nose for the football, and easily passes the eye test.

CB Tony Burns (2024)

The younger brother of former Georgia and current LSU safety Major Burns, Tony played spot duty on a dominant Baton Rouge (La.) University squad that capped a perfect season with a Division II state championship. Burns provided pop against the run on defense and contributed on special teams as a sophomore and should carve out a role in the secondary this spring. He’s equipped to play corner or safety, and like his brother has length, excellent coverage skills and an edge to his game.

RB Jason Gabriel Jr. (2024)

River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Jason Gabriel Jr. has continued to add to his frame this offseason and is primed for a breakout season for the New Orleans Metro area powerhouse. Gabriel boasts 4.4 speed and should be a dynamic RB1 in this split-veer offense with astounding acceleration and devious straight-line speed. In the 7-on-7 setting, Gabriel flashed sure hands and the same burst after the catch. In-state schools like Tulane and LSU have taken notice. So have Florida State and Alabama, among others.

WR Bobby Kennedy (2024)

New Orleans area standout Bobby Kennedy is a massive 6-foot-3, 185-pound target in the passing game capable of making plays in the middle of the field and extending plays after contact. Kennedy also sees spot duty on defense, where he can also come downhill in a hurry. Kennedy, who has an early offer from Ole Miss, is just scratching the surface.

CB Ashton Stamps (2023)

A rising senior worth mentioning is here is Metairie (La.) Rummel cornerback Ashton Stamps, who this spring checked in at 6-feet and 170 pounds. With a bigger frame, Stamps hasn’t lost a beat getting in and out of his breaks in coverage. He’s fluid in coverage with great closing speed and more strength has only added to his repertoire. Tulane and Nicholls have offered, but Stamps is developing into a Power 5 option this spring.

S Anthony Robinson (2024)

Anthony Robinson is another talented piece in the talented Destrehan (La.) 2024 class along with EDGE Kolaj Cobbins and RB Shane Lee. At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Robinson is a well-built sophomore that contributes in a variety of different ways including safety, running back as well as in the return game. Robinson is a sure tackler with a knack for stripping the ball and could draw looks at safety or grow into a linebacker.

WR Luke Wisham (2024)

The younger brother of Louisiana-Lafayette running back TJ Wisham and new Prairie View A&M signee Conner Wisham, there’s a shot that Luke might ultimately be the best. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder is set to be On300 quarterback Eli Holstein’s top target in the passing game beginning this spring, a challenge Wisham is certainly up. He’s a big-play threat with 4.5 speed and can high-point the football, has excellent body control and is dangerous in the open field. Wisham lines up in the slot and outside, has a muscular build and is adept at making plays in traffic.

He has a chance to be the state’s best receiver when it’s all said and done.

ATH Raiyen Oatis (2024)

One of the more intriguing skill-position prospects in The Boot includes Raiyen Oatis, a 6-foot, 170-pound two-way athlete that’ll draw offers on both sides of the ball and boasts immense upside at cornerback. Oatis, also a standout basketball player on top of an All-District defensive back and return specialist, is also a motivated tackler. He’s a big play waiting to happen.

CB Marcus Dawson Jr. (2024)

Marcus Dawson was a key contributor to Baton Rouge (La.) University’s title run a season ago. At 6-foot-2, 180-plus pounds, Dawson manned a cornerback spot and brings size and athleticism to the position. Dawson is also a sure tackler and has the physical playstyle and frame to also see action at safety. Power 5 coaches will be drawn to him in the spring.
