In-state OT Bryten Close commits to Louisville adding to Cardinals Top 25 recruiting class

Taylor County (Ky.) Offensive tackle Bryten Close announced his commitment to Louisville on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Close becomes commit No. 14 for head coach Jeff Brohm and his staff in the 2026 cycle, adding to a class the On3 Industry previously ranked No. 21 nationally.
Close visited Louisville several times over the course of his prospect including earlier this month. Offensive line coach Richard Owen led the Cardinals efforts on this one and offered Close after seeing him workout Tuesday.
“Louisville has always treated me with equal respect and I have had a great relationship with Coach Owens for about half a year now,” Close said. He came down to Taylor County today and after seeing me workout and my athleticism he offered me and I was ready to make it happen on the spot,” Close explained.

“My favorite thing about the program is their tradition. Over the past few seasons since Coach Brohm has started as the head coach they have not only built a reputation as one of the top teams in the ACC but also as a frequent nationally-ranked contributor.
“Another huge piece of my commitment was being a hometown kid, with Louisville only being an hour and a half away from home and there recent history with sending guys to the league it became a no brainer. Also growing up in Taylor County I’ve been a Cardinal my whole life, didn’t want to switch it up now!”
Close had offers from Liberty and Western Kentucky among others. Here is a link to the Louisville class with Close in the fold.
