Louisville quarterback Brady Allen plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Louisville quarterback Brady Allen is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Allen was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry rankings. He was ranked as the No. 7 quarterback in the country that season.
Allen originally signed with Purdue in the class of 2022, before transferring to Louisville after the 2022 season when Jeff Brohm accepted the Louisville job. He committed to Louisville in May of 2023 and played for the Cardinals each of the past two seasons.
Across two seasons at Louisville, Allen only attempted one pass. He did not receive any game action in 2024.
Brohm said last spring that he liked what he saw from Brady Allen, but that did not translate into any playing time in the fall. Instead it was Tyler Shough who took all the meaningful snaps for the Cardinals, leading Louisville to an 8-4 (5-3) record.
“I think Brady made some good throws, as well. Nothing perfect, but they all displayed that they’ve improved,” Brohm said in the spring. “And I think they understand at some point we’re going to need them all to play.”

Louisville WR Caullin Lacy announces return for final season in 2025
Yes, Louisville is losing Allen to the transfer portal, but the Cardinals did receive some good news earlier this week.
Wide receiver Caullin Lacy made the decision to redshirt after four games this season in order to save his year of eligibility. Lacy battled injuries for much of the year and wanted to sit out and get fully healthy for 2025.
It has now been revealed where Lacy will play in 2025. He is returning to play for Louisville and Brohm next season, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Lacy caught three passes for 11 yards in limited playing time this year. However, he has proven to be a playmaker when healthy.
Lacy started his career at South Alabama and put up eye-popping numbers with the Jaguars. His best year there came in 2023 when he caught 91 passes for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns.
