4-star QB Pierce Clarkson throws 3 TDs wins championship
It is always a major event when Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei face off.
The added drama of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship and Mater Dei head coach’s Bruce Rollinson retirement made Friday’s game even more dramatic.
Four-star quarterback and Louisville commit Pierce Clarkson lived up to the moment.
Despite missing some time in the first half after picking up an injury, Clarkson was 14-for-27, throwing for 264 yards and three touchdowns.
One of those touchdowns was a 75-yard strike to fellow Cardinal commit and four-star recruit DeAndre Moore Jr.

Bellflower St. John Bosco won the game 24-22, giving its rivals their first loss since 2019.
Clarkson is the No. 244 overall recruit and No. 15 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $162k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
