It was a critical weekend in the recruitment of three-star Louisiana EDGE Ahmad Breaux, who when he arrived in Baton Rouge for a junior day visit was committed to Duke.

By the time the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 58 EDGE returned back home to Ruston, La., he had a change of heart.

Breaux committed to LSU on Sunday, a day after soaking up the atmosphere at LSU’s elite junior day, which was filled with several of The Boot’s best prospects in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Breaux secured an offer from the Tigers and wasted no time committing to Brian Kelly and Jamar Cain before the end of the weekend.

“It felt like home,” Breaux told On3.

“Being raised in south Louisiana, I grew up living this dream. I’ve seen cousins play at LSU. I’ve seen LSU’s legacy grow. The legacy is only growing with this amazing staff and the culture that I witnessed at the visit this weekend.”

One of the state’s best 20 player spent time around the LSU coaches and spent time learning about the infrastructure of Matt House’s defense.

“Coach House’s system is impeccable and one of the best, if not the best in college football,” Breaux said. “Coach Cain will push me to my max potential and train me to be my best self. Coach Kelly is a great man and a great coach that can bring LSU to the top, and I want to be a part of that. With me meeting the staff and growing a relationship with them, I felt like this decision was a no-brainer. I needed to stay home and make this state better.”

Breaux bolsters an LSU 2024 recruiting class that entered the weekend ranked just outside the top 10 nationally and is a major in-state piece to build around.
