As SEC play gets underway, LSU and Missouri are preparing to square off as part of the Week 6 slate of games. The two teams have had different starts to the year, but it should be an interesting matchup in Columbia — and the oddsmakers have weighed in.

LSU is a 6.5-point favorite over Missouri, according to FanDuel. The over-under is set at 61.5.

LSU started the year with a loss to Florida State, but rallied for three straight victories over Grambling State, Mississippi State and Arkansas to bring a 3-1 record into Week 5 against Ole Miss. But the Rebels got off to a fast start and the two teams traded blows as the Tigers took a 31-28 deficit into halftime.

LSU rebounded quickly in the third quarter, taking a 42-34 lead as the fourth quarter got underway. After Quinshon Judkins cut the Tigers’ lead to 42-40 to open the fourth quarter. Jayden Daniels connected with Brian Thomas Jr. on a 34-yard scoring strike to extend the LSU lead to 49-40 with 8:34 to play in the contest.

Jaxson Dart responded with a one-yard touchdown plunge and followed with a touchdown pass to Tre Harris to put the Rebels ahead 55-49 with 34 seconds to play. Daniels led LSU to the Ole Miss 16-yard line with 12 seconds to play, but a pair of penalties pushed the Tigers back to the Ole Miss 26 for the game’s final play, a final Daniels’ heave to the endzone that fell to the turf, securing the win for the Rebels.

Mizzou, meanwhile, took on Vanderbilt in Nashville and improved to 5-0 with a 38-21 victory. The Tigers were led by quarterback Brady Cook, who had a huge game despite coming in listed as questionable. He completed 33 of 31 passes for 395 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers’ offense. Luther Burden III, who was also questionable coming in, was the leading receiver with 140 yards and two touchdowns as Cook’s top target.

Missouri led 17-7 at halftime and extended the lead to 24-7 in the third quarter. Vanderbilt scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but Mizzou did the same to come away with the 17-point victory.

The victory moved Missouri to 5-0 for the first time since 2013 when the Tigers finished 12-2, including a 7-1 mark in SEC play. Appropriately, the fifth straight victory also came against Vanderbilt that year.

LSU and Missouri haven’t played each other since 2020 when Mizzou pulled off a 45-41 victory over Ed Orgeron’s group. Kickoff is set for Oct. 7 at noon ET on ESPN.
