On3.com

In one of the most interesting matchups of Week 9, LSU and Texas A&M will square off in a battle of Top-15 teams. The offensive player projections are also set for the SEC showdown, according to PrizePicks.

The Tigers and Aggies are the last two remaining undefeated teams in the SEC, adding more juice to the conference race. Both teams are looking to make the path to Atlanta that much easier and stay in the mix for not only a league title, but a College Football Playoff appearance.

Quarterback play is going to be the focal point for both teams. Garrett Nussmeier is emerging as one of the top passers in the country entering Week 9, ranking seventh in the nation with 317.4 passing yards per game. That’s also the second-best mark in the SEC behind Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart to start the 2024 season.

On the Texas A&M side, Conner Weigman will be playing in his third game back from injury. He went down with a shoulder injury against Notre Dame and ended up missing some time, but led the Aggies to two wins in his return and will look to continue that streak on Saturday against LSU.

LSU and Texas A&M will square off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Here are the offensive player projections for the matchup, according to PrizePicks.

Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

Pass Yards: 278.5
Rush Yards: 2.5

Garrett Nussmeier has been one of the top passers in the SEC this year, although he’s coming off his lowest showing of the year with 233 yards against Arkansas. It was just his second game with less than 300 passing yards, and he’ll get ready to face a Texas A&M defense that averages 209 passing yards allowed per game.

The SEC’s second-leading rusher this season, Le’Veon Moss is the leader in the Texas A&M backfield this year while averaging 96.3 yards per game. LSU is allowing 114.86 rush yards on average this year, meaning Moss will look to continue his strong season in Week 9.

Tre Watson, TE, Texas A&M

Receiving Yards: 16.5

Although Tre Watson hasn’t put up big numbers this year, he still has a reception in all seven games for Texas A&M. He also has 95 total yards, and PrizePicks lists his projection at 16.5 against LSU.

Josh Williams, RB, LSU

Rush Yards: 24.5

Josh Williams is another important piece of the LSU rushing attack. He enters Week 9 with 218 yards and three touchdowns to rank second on the Tigers roster as the complement to Caden Durham.

LSU and Texas A&M are both undefeated in conference play, which means one will suffer its first loss in SEC action on Saturday and, as a result, make the standings that much more intriguing. It’s sure to be an exciting nightcap to a Week 9 slate of games on ABC and wrap up the day.
