Luke Kromenhoek's father pushes back on idea son left FSU due to NIL

In the era of NIL and the transfer portal, the two can often become inextricably linked. Sometimes to the detriment of the players themselves, who can be accused by fans of being selfish if they’re seeking a better deal.
Sometimes, though, NIL isn’t even really a factor.
Such is the case for Florida State quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, according to his father. According to a report from Patrick Burnham of The Osceola, Kromenhoek’s father, Jon, passed along some interesting news on the transfer Tuesday evening.
The elder Kromenhoek “emphatically denies that his son’s decision to enter the portal and leave FSU was NIL related and he takes exception to anyone saying otherwise,” Burnham reported.
Kromenhoek entered the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday.
Luke Kromenhoek appeared in six games as a reserve for the Seminoles this past season, completing 44 of 84 passes for 502 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school following his transfer.

Kromenhoek signed with Florida State after accounting for nearly 7,000 yards and 73 touchdowns during three seasons at Benedictine. He should be in line for a decent NIL package at his next stop.
As a senior in 2023, he threw for 2,578 with 24 touchdowns and added 588 yards and seven scores on the ground. Coming out of high school, Luke Kromenhoek chose the Seminoles over offers from Oklahoma, Tennessee and others.
The former Benedictine Military School (Ga.) star was a member of FSU’s 2024 recruiting class, where he ranked as the nation’s No. 45 overall prospect and No. 4 QB, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
