Luther Burden, Theo Wease injury update: Eli Drinkwitz reveals status vs. Boston College
In the first half of last week’s game against Buffalo, Missouri found itself without star wide receiver Luther Burden. He left in the first half and didn’t return, and Theo Wease also appeared to suffer an injury later in the game.
As the Tigers prepare to face Boston College, Eli Drinkwitz had updates on both receivers during his weekly press conference. Because the SEC only sends availability reports for league games, he deemed them “probable.”
After Saturday’s win, Drinkwitz said Burden was dealing with an illness and the staff kept him out as a precaution while Missouri cruised to a 38-0 victory. Wease, meanwhile, suffered an apparent arm injury before returning to the game.
Based on Tuesday’s update, Drinkwitz sounded optimistic about their chances of playing in Saturday’s matchup vs. Boston College.

“Both feeling good. … Luther’s, I would say, probable. Theo’s probable,” Drinkwitz said. “I’m not concerned about either one of those right now.”
Drinkwitz offered two more injury updates, as well. He said Brett Norfleet would be questionable after missing the Buffalo game with a shoulder injury, and the staff would see how Cam’Ron Johnson did in Tuesday’s practice in a no-contact jersey. Johnson got hurt in practice ahead of the Week 2 matchup.

More on Luther Burden, Theo Wease
Burden and Wease were both key parts of the Missouri offense in 2023. They were Brady Cook’s top two targets, and their return as he returned at quarterback provided plenty of optimism about another leap forward.
Burden totaled 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore, leading Mizzou in both categories. As for Wease, his 682 yards marked a career-high after he transferred in from Oklahoma prior to the season.
Missouri handled Buffalo with ease in Week 2, coming away with a 38-0 victory led largely by the running game. All five Tigers touchdown came on the ground, led by two from Cook and one from Nate Noel, who had a game-high 73 receiving yards. Burden also had one before leaving the game.
Kickoff between Missouri and Boston College is set for 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air on SEC Network.
