Malik Reneau, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Hialeah (Fla.) Montverde Academy has committed to Florida basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Reneau is the Gator’s first commitment of the class. He chose Florida over Memphis, Florida State, Miami, among others.

Reneau is the No. 13 ranked power forward in the On3 100 rankings.

Florida is also targeting Jett Howard, Jaylen Martin, Justyn Fernandez, Brice Sensabaugh, Julian Phillips, Eric Dailey, AJ Casey, among others. 

Malik Reneau on why he chose Florida

“I picked Florida because it was a family,” Reneau said. “They have been there for a while, always showing love. They are going to use me in many ways to help the team, like pick and roll, pick and popping, using ball screens, isolation, post-up, etc. Defensively, I’ll be able to guard everyone on the court.”
