Mark Ingram hopes Penn State 'dog walks' SMU in College Football Playoff
The College Football Playoff is around the corner. With that, predictions for this weekend’s games are coming in, including from Fox analyst Mark Ingram who boldly hoped for the Penn State Nittany Lions to dog walk the SMU Mustangs.
Ingram explained on The Triple Option that he’s frustrated with how SMU ended up in the Playoff. So, he wants to see Penn State have a big win over the Mustangs.
“I hope Penn State just dog walks SMU for them not winning the ACC,” Mark Ingram said. “If they just would have won the ACC Championship, we all would have been happy, but now I’m pissed…dog walk. Foot in arse. Foot in arse. SMU is going up to Happy Valley, going to be freezing their face-off, coming from Dallas.”
Mark Ingram, a former Alabama running back, is referencing how SMU ended up making the College Football Playoff despite losing the ACC Championship Game. That got two teams from the ACC into the Playoff. The highest-ranked team that ended up getting left out ended up being Alabama.
“Penn State, I’ve got Penn State joining us. Tyler Warren, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, defense playing with their hair on fire,” Ingram said. “James Franklin has to hold it down in Happy Valley. I’ve got Penn State in this one, especially with the weather. SMU ain’t gonna be ready for that cold.”
The weather in Happy Valley is currently set to be freezing cold. According to AccuWeather, Saturday will have a high of 27 degrees and a feels-like temperature of 13 degrees. Wind will be 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. There’s also a chance of precipitation.

That weather, combined with the atmosphere at Beaver Stadium, is something that SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee knows his team needs to be prepared for.
“Weather is only going to be a problem if we allow it to be, you know…And you know, fortunately, that ACC championship game was in the 30s. I know it’s going to be colder than that this week. Here’s what I’ll also say. I mean, I think the crowd and the home field environment is the biggest problem. Penn State’s got to play in the exact same weather, the exact same weather conditions we do. And last time I checked, they’ve never played a home game on December 21st in 20 degree weather,” Lashlee said.
“So I even think they have an indoor (place) up there, you know. So that’s only going to be an issue if we make it one, and if we allow it to be one, it will be. But I think our guys showed, hopefully last week, that they’ll play in the elements. And if we want a chance to win and survive and advance in the playoffs, we’re going to have to overcome 20 degree weather and 106,000 fans. And if you’re a competitor, that’s the opportunity you want.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST on Saturday in Happy Valley with a trip to play Boise State on the line.
