Marquette, Shaka Smart land commitment from Tre Norman

Worchester (Mass.) Worchester Academy four-star recruit Tre Norman tells On3 he has committed to Marquette.

Norman, a 6-foot-3 class of 2023 shooting guard, chose the Golden Eagles over offers from Georgetown, Miami, Texas A&M, Harvard, and several others.

He becomes Marquette’s third commitment to the 2023 class, joining three-star PF Al Amadou (No. 128) and three-star SG Zaide Lowery (No. 148).

Norman ranks as the No. 99 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 22 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Massachusetts.

Norman on his commitment to Marquette

“What made me choose Marquette was just how loyal they were from the beginning,” Norman said to On3. “They kept in contact with me. They never wavered and there weren’t any times when they stopped talking to me for a while. It was always consistent. The coaching staff connected with my family and stayed in contact with everybody, even my friends. They would talk to them on the phone. Marquette really separated themselves from other schools in the recruiting process.”

What type of player is Marquette getting in Tre Norman?

“Just a player that’s going to work hard and win,” he says. “I’m a winner, so I’ll bring my winning aspirations to the team. They’re getting a dog; a player that isn’t going to complain, a player that is going to push the other players on the team, and a player that’s going to really be in the gym. Just an overall winning and a player that is willing to develop, willing to be coached, and willing to accept when I’m wrong and improve on all the little things.”

Norman has a message for Marquette fans.

“Be ready for a culture change. We are going to be doing big things. It’s going to be a whole different vibe. It’s not going to be Milwaukee and the Bucks, it’s going to be Milwaukee and Marquette.”
