Marshall's Josh Moten, Sun Belt staffer get in scuffle after win over Old Dominion
There was a scuffle between Marshall defensive back Josh Moten and a Sun Belt staffer on Saturday night following the Old Dominion-Marshall game. The Thundering Herd defeated the Monarchs 42-35 and after the game, video surfaced of them in a scuffle. They had to be separated by a number of people in the end zone.
Marshall won the game, thanks to some outstanding play from their quarterback, Braylon Braxton. He had over 300 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns. He’s really come on strong lately down the stretch.
Marshall currently sits at 8-3 overall and 6-1 in Sun Belt. They’re currently in first place in the Sun Belt East. Their only losses this year have come against Virginia Tech, Ohio State, and Georgia Southern. Next week, the Thundering Herd will take on the JMU Dukes, a team that has continued to cement their place as a force to be reckoned with on the Division I-A level. JMU sits at 8-3, ranking third in the Sun Belt. And despite losing much of their talent last offseason in the portal and the departure of their old head coach, Curt Cignetti, they’ve persevered.

JMU’s trademark win of the season came when they throttled North Carolina 70-50, announcing that even if it might be a new year, that the Dukes would once again be difficult squad to face on the gridiron. JMU quarterback Alonza Barnett III had over 450 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns. So, clearly, the Marshall defensive unit will have their hands full when they face off against the Dukes.
Marshall EDGE rusher Mike Green has been dominant
One of the most feared defenders on the Marshall defense is Marshall EDGE Mike Green. He’s one of the best pass rushers in all of college football and figures to be one of the more coveted prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s tallied 15 sacks, which leads the country in that category. The sophomore originally transferred to the Thundering Herd from the Virginia Cavaliers, when he decided to hit the transfer portal in December of 2022.
