Report: Matchups set for 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge in basketball
The 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge in basketball has been set, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. The annual challenge is now going into its second year.
The inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge led to a 7-7 tie and a split for the two power conferences.
This year’s showdown will include more marquee matchups that are sure to satisfy the early itch of college basketball fans everywhere. Highlighting the slate are a couple prominent showdowns, including a Sweet 16 rematch.
That Sweet 16 rematch will be played by Alabama and North Carolina, with the game taking place in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Other games that jump off the schedule are Arkansas at Miami, Kentucky at Clemson, Syracuse at Tennessee, Auburn at Duke and Virginia at Florida. But the entire slate is out, courtesy of Rothstein’s reporting, via a source.
Several of those programs will have postseason aspirations, with a few of them coming off nice NCAA Tournament runs after a successful 2023-24 campaign. Getting to bolster the resume with a quality power conference opportunity early in the season is always a bonus.
