Class of 2023 Matt Reed’s recruitment is starting to pick up. The 6-foot-9 Lewisville (Tx.) iSchool post brings a lot of skill to the table.

“I can shoot the ball,” Reed told On3 Sports. “I’m good with a lot of pump fakes and footwork to score on the block and I’m a good post defender. I hear a lot from Loyola-Chicago, Rice, Northern Iowa of the schools that have offered me. I just visited Loyola-Chicago.”

Matt Reed breaks it down

Loyola-Chicago: “On my visit there, I learned how they used their bigs; how I could be another distributor of the offense there. I saw they use their bigs to be a big part of their offense and what they do.”

“Utah, Butler, TCU, Princeton, Colorado State, Wyoming are schools like that are reaching out a lot,” Reed said. “They haven’t offered yet. I think a lot of them want me to take a visit to get me on campus before the offer. I am looking to set up visits with Butler and Colorado State.”

Butler: “I know they use their bigs, not just rim running, but they can shoot the ball, and they let their bigs play to their strengths.”

Reed’s take

“I want to go somewhere I can play early,” Reed said. “It doesn’t have to be the highest level, but someone who plays through a big like me and I can get on the floor early.”

On3’s take

Reed is a skilled big man who can handle, shoot, and pass. His iSchool team does a great job of setting him up in multiple positions on the floor and running the offense through him. Reed has question marks laterally and with his vertical pop, but there is no questioning his toughness and the leadership he brings to the table.
