Matt Rhule calls out officiating in win vs. Colorado: 'It's a Big 12 crew, so I can't get fined'
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule was not happy with the officiating crew in a 28-10 victory against Colorado on Saturday. The Cornhuskers finished the game with 12 penalties called on them for a total of 105 yards, and Rhule did not hold back with his frustration postgame.
“I was disappointed we didn’t get too many calls going our way,” he told reporters. “It’s a Big 12 crew, so I can’t get fined by them.”
The Buffaloes had nine penalties called against them for a total of 104 yards by comparison. Regardless of the way he felt about the officials, however, Rhule had to be happy with the way his team played to begin the year 2-0 for the first time since 2016.
True freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola continued to impress in only the second game of his college career. He finished the day an efficient 23-of-30 passing for 185 yards and a touchdown.

Nebraska also came up big defensively to force a pair of turnovers and hold Colorado to a mere 16 yards rushing. Its performance over the first two games of the season certainly provides confidence this can be one of the best seasons in several years.
The meeting between the Cornhuskers and Buffaloes was the 72nd in history as the two teams are rivals dating backing to when they both played in the Big 12. The win for Nebraska snapped a three-game losing streak against Colorado and improved their all-time record in the series to 50-21-2.
Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers will look to continue rolling next week as they take on Northern Illinois. After that, Big Ten play begins as Nebraska will host Illinois for a Friday night game on Sept. 20.
