Dan Lanning Discusses Oregon's Offensive Line

After the second fall camp scrimmage for Oregon, the Ducks’ Matthew Bedford suffered an injury to his right knee. It was expected to sideline him for a number of weeks at the time. In his Wednesday press conference, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning provided an update on the senior guard.

How is Bedford doing? “Yeah, better and better. Better and better,” Lanning explained.

Is he healthy enough to be able to play in the Oregon State game? “Confident he could,” the Ducks head coach noted.

As a redshirt senior at Indiana in 2023, Bedford appeared in 12 games, with 11 games at right guard. He allowed just one sack in 755 total snaps. He earned a pass blocking grade of 70.0 or better in eight of 13 games, while earning 80.0 or better in two games, according to Pro Football Focus. In 2022, Bedford actually missed the final 11 games of the season for the Indiana Hoosiers after suffering a knee injury. In 2021, he started all 12 games for Indiana, making starts at a number of positions, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.

In high school, Bedford played at Cordova High School (Cordova, Tennessee). He played in the 2018 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at AT&T Stadium. He also got to play in the 2018 East-West All-Star Classic.

Bedford has to be thankful Oregon survived Boise State

Oregon barely survived Boise State on Saturday, coming away with a 37-34 win in the final seconds of the game. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty once again showed he’s one of the nation’s best at his position, finishing with 200 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. He nearly guided the Broncos to a massive upset win on the road.

Oregon had some great performances from quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who completed 18 of 21 passes for 243 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions. Ducks’ running back Jordan James had 17 carries for 102 yards.

Texas A&M transfer wideout Evan Stewart had a great game for Oregon, hauling in five catches for 112 yards and one touchdown. Traeshon Holden also hauled in four catches for 78 yards for the Ducks.

Oregon and Oregon State will take on each other on Saturday, September 14th. That one will take place at 3:30 PM EST on FOX.
