Mazi Mosley put college coaches on notice with his play on the Under Armour Next 16u Circuit in April. The 6-foot-4 guard from St. Francis (CA) averaged 11.4 points while shooting 40.0 percent and swiped 1.2 steals per game in Rock Hill.

“I’m a three-level scorer,” Mosley told On3. “I have an all-around game, really. I can play defense, too. I’ve improved my jump shot, both out of the pick and roll and in catch and shoot. I’m getting to my spots quicker now. I watch a lot of Bizzy Bones (Bones Hyland) from the Clippers. I watch his pick and roll game, and the reads he makes, the spots he gets to there.”

On3 caught up with Mazi Mosley after a recent live viewing to talk about the early stages of his recruitment.

Mosley talks recruiting

“I have offers from Cal-Berkeley, Arizona State, Xavier, and a couple more,” Mosley said. “I haven’t been able to get on any campuses yet.”

Xavier: “They’re my most recent offer. I know they’re a tough program. They play good basketball, and they’re well coached.”

California-Berkeley: “Two of my friends, Rodney Brown and Devin Curtis, committed to Cal. The new staff offered me. I know when they look at players, they recruit players for more than just basketball. They recruit to make you better off the court too.”

Arizona State: “I know they have good players there. I like the coaching staff; he gets the most out of his players.”

In Mosley’s words

“I’m going to be looking for a school that is going to try and make me a better man,” Mosley said. “I don’t want to go somewhere that just wants me as a basketball player because you want to have that relationship with a coach, that trust where you both see eye-to-eye.”
