Clovis (Calif.) North four-star linebacker McKay Madsen is one of the five top uncommitted prospects in the 2025 cycle, as of Dec. 16.

While he’s not planning to announce a decision until the new year, there is a team that’s heavily trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Madsen took his official visit to Oregon over the weekend and the Ducks continue to look like the team to beat, as three picks have been logged in favor of Dan Lanning and Co. for the 6-foot-1, 230-pounder.

Madsen also visited Eugene earlier this month and also made trips in the summer and October. He’s also taken OVs to UCLA and BYU.

Madsen last saw the Ducks roll past Washington to close out an undefeated regular season. He told Scoop Duck after the trip that he was indeed still eyeing a January decision. While Madsen is a member of the 2025 cycle, he is planning to take a two-year mission trip and likely won’t see the field until 2027.

“Highlights were definitely feeling out the weather this time,” Madsen said after the visit. “This time was kind of a glimpse of the real Oregon during the wintery months. And just seeing the coaches again, seeing the coaches, I got to talk to Bryce Boettcher after the game, get his take on doing two sports in Oregon too, and kind of just talking with him about his experience there.”

Oregon was the big winner coming out of National Signing Day as it now has the No. 2 class in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Ducks signed a pair of linebackers in Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star Nasir Wyatt and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star Gavin Nix — who flipped from Miami on Dec. 3.

Madsen is the No. 341 overall prospect and No. 37 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 30 player in California.

As a senior for Clovis North, Madsen was a weapon on both sides of the ball. He tallied over 1,200 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns as a running back for the Broncos while also catching a pair of TDs. As a linebacker he managed over 50 total tackles and four interceptions. North finished the season with an 8-4 record while checking in as the No. 28 team in California, per the On3 Composite Rankings.
