McKenzie Milton hired as quarterbacks coach on Scott Frost's new UCF staff
A reunion is on the way for two prominent figures in UCF football history, with former quarterback McKenzie Milton being tapped as the quarterbacks coach on Scott Frost‘s new staff.
Milton played quarterback for Frost’s teams from 2016-17 before later suffering a devastating injury. He helped the Knights to a perfect 13-0 season in 2017.
The Orlando Sentinel’s Mike Bianchi broke the news that Milton was interviewing for a job on Frost’s staff on Tuesday. McKenzie Milton is currently serving as an offensive analyst at Tennessee under coach Josh Heupel.
According to Bianchi, Heupel gave his blessing for Milton to fly down to Orlando for the interview. Tennessee, of course, is preparing for its first College Football Playoff game.
Shortly after Bianchi’s report, UCF officially announced Milton as the new quarterbacks coach.
The reunion is one that will be met with praise by just about every UCF fan out there. McKenzie Milton was one of the most beloved figures in program history, and he’s begun a promising career as a coach following his playing days.

Milton first emerged on the scene at UCF in 2016, when he threw for 1,983 yards and 10 touchdowns, against seven interceptions. He also ran for 158 yards and three scores.
While that was productive, it was in no way indicative of what was about to come.
During his second season with the Knights, McKenzie Milton absolutely exploded. He went off for more than 4,000 passing yards, throwing 37 touchdowns against just nine interceptions. He also ran for 613 yards and eight scores, and UCF would go on to a perfect 13-0 record.
Then, in late 2018, Milton suffered the injury that would ultimately derail his career. He suffered extensive damage to his right knee, requiring emergency surgery to stabilize the injury.
He would be out of football for about three years, finally resurfacing at Florida State ahead of the 2021 season. He threw for 775 yards and three touchdowns, against six interceptions, that year for the Seminoles, before ultimately hanging up the cleats.
