4-star C Ben Ahmed commits to Miami
Ben Ahmed, a four-star center in the 2025 class, has committed to Miami and head coach Jim Larrañaga.
The 6-foot-10 senior out of Putnam Science Academy (CT) chose the Hurricanes over Cincinnati and Xavier, but also received offers from Providence, Georgetown, Rutgers, and more.
Ahmed is the No. 60 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 5 center prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s evaluators are slightly higher on Ahmed, ranking him No. 49 in the 2025 class.
Ahmed talks Miami official visit
Ben Ahmed visited Miami earlier this month. He recapped his time in Coral Gables with CaneSports’ Izubee Charles.
“I would just say the relationship I had with the coaching and just the way I saw them really relating with the players because that’s a big deal to me,” Ahmed told CaneSport when asked what stood out the most during his official visit. “I just watched practice; I saw their style of play, and that was great.

“At the end of the day, everything is about trust, and I felt that with him,” Ahmed said. “They don’t really recruit a lot of people, so he just made me feel they needed me. You want to go where you’re wanted, so I just had that feeling with him.”
“I think Miami is a great program,” Ahmed said. “Coach L has been there for a while, and he’s one of the best college coaches. They’ve been to the Final Four, and they win games. That’s a great spot and a really good program.”
Scouting Report
“Ben Ahmed is a lengthy, big bodied big man on the block. His game is played around the basket out to 15 feet. While being a below the rim big, he has excellent touch and feet on the block. He has multiple go-to moves to get over his right shoulder. He has big, passer-friendly hands and is a solid area rebounder. There will be questions about his stamina and how well he moves. That will lead to continued defensive questions. He uses his body very well to carve out space. He accepts contact and finishes well at the rim. He has shooting touch and can knock down his free throws. Has good feet. An intriguing low block finisher.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
