Matthews, who graduated from Robert Morris in 2022, plans to complete his Master of Science in education and sports administration at Miami over the summer. He has also worked with Taylor Sports Group and Octagon Sports where he has experience assisting NBA players during on-court workouts.
Miami finished the 2023-24 basketball season short of where they left off the previous season. After Larranaga leg the ‘Canes to an exciting run to the Final Four the previous season, Miami finished this past year with a 15-17 record (6-14, ACC) that included losing the last 10 games of the season. They ultimately missed out on the NCAA Tournament.
The Miami men’s basketball team is less than two months out from their preseason exhibition against St. Leo in Coral Gables before tipping off the season against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 4. They’re a team who also made headlines during the 2023 NCAA Tournament for their part in making history as the second 16-seed in history to knock off a No. 1 seed.
They’ll also participate in the Charleston Classic, ACC/SEC Challenge and Jimmy V Classic before starting conference play around the new year.
