Dolphins beat Bengals with 34-yard, fourth-down Hail Mary prayer
The Miami Dolphins ended their preseason on a high note Sunday, as third-string quarterback Reid Sinnett pulled off a 34-yard Hail Mary prayer on fourth-and-15 that found its way into the hands of tight end Chris Myarick for a touchdown.
The score put the Dolphins up 27-26, and they converted the two-point conversion to win 29-26.
Sinnett evaded two Bengals pass rushers before heaving a pass roughly 12 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Myarick, in the front corner of the end zone, had four Bengals defenders in his vicinity yet somehow came down with the ball for a touchdown.
Sinnett’s fourth-and-15 highlight was just one of many in his preseason finale, as the undrafted 24-year-old made his case to be included on the Dolphins’ 53-man roster. He had a productive day and was the only quarterback used by Miami; Sinnett finished with 343 passing yards on 22 completions (33 attempts) and threw two touchdowns — including the game winner — with just one interception.
The 6-foot-4 signal caller, a product of the University of San Diego, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft but did not make the roster. He spent a few weeks on the Buccaneers practice squad before being cut in September of 2020. The Dolphins signed Sinnett to their practice squad shortly thereafter, and he was elevated to the active roster twice last season — once in Week 12 against the Jets, and once in Week 17 against the Bills — but did not play a snap.

Myarick had only one catch on one target Sunday, but it happened to be the 34-yard game-winning play.
A Temple football alum, Myarick declared for the 2019 NFL Draft but went undrafted. He was later signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2019, and after making the team, he’s spent each of the past two seasons in Miami.
