Nashville DCA four-star tight end Carson Sneed remains committed to the in-state Tennessee Volunteers, but he’s been out on the road this spring getting a look at some other schools of interest.

Miami is one of the programs looking to flip the 6-foot-5.5, 235-pounder and he made his way down to Coral Gables for a visit over the weekend:

Sneed has now visited the Hurricanes twice this year, with his first trip coming in January. This month has also seen him take visits to Colorado, Ole Miss and North Carolina. He’s locked in official visits, too, and a return trip to The U is locked in for the weekend of June 6.

“They definitely have (been moving quickly),” Sneed said of Miami in an interview with CaneSport last month. “Coach (Cody) Woodiel has been recruiting me very hard. He came to the school, sat down with my parents and met them a little bit. They really liked him. More importantly I like him as a coach, as a man and all of that, and I like what Miami did with their tight ends so I want to go see what they’re about.”

Sneed is the No. 280 overall prospect and No. 14 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in Tennessee.

The younger brother of Tennessee receiver Dayton Sneed, Carson is one of eight commits in the Vols’ 2026 class, which currently ranks No. 10 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

More on Miami Recruiting

Head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami staff currently have seven commits in the 2026 cycle and a class that ranks No. 12 thus far.

Miami Gardens Carol City four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell is the top-ranked commit, checking in as the No. 99 recruit and No. 5 LB in the nation. He’s one of five in-state prospects in the class to date.

Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters decommitted from Florida and quickly followed defensive backs coach Will Harris over to Coral Gables. He’s the No. 15 corner in the cycle and one of two DBs in the mix, alongside Charlotte Myers Park four-star CB Camdin Portis.

Lakeland (Fla.) Jones four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman is the No. 18 signal-caller in the cycle and has been committed since July.

“The culture,” Coleman told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “The fanbase. Who doesn’t want to play at Miami. Who doesn’t want to play in that city. You can live your life there after a long career. You can go back to Miami and be that dude … I feel like I’m meant for this. That’s why I really chose Miami.”

Other commits in the class include West Boca Raton (Fla.) four-star running back Javian Mallory, Mineral City (Ohio) Tuscarawas Valley four-star offensive tackle Ben Congdon and Fort Myers (Fla.) three-star interior offensive lineman Joel Ervin.
