Miami lands commitment from On300 DB Markeith Williams

Orlando Evans four-star defensive back Markeith Williams committed to the Miami Hurricanes Wednesday night, choosing the Hurricanes over Ohio State and Nebraska.
Williams is ranked in the On300 as the No. 153 player in the country.
In his three years as a stater, Markeith Williams has totaled 208 tackles, 22 PBUs and 13 interceptions. Williams also runs track.
“I chose Miami because of the culture and history behind the school,” Markeith Williams said. “The history behind the school and having a chance to meet with some of the legends that played here was huge.”
Williams said relationships with the coaches also played a role in making a decision to ultimately commit.

“Me and the coaches’ relationships are awesome,” Williams said. “It felt like we knew each other for ever. I wanted to play for Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) because he kept it real, and coach Ish (Ishmael Aristide) coming from Evans made us have an even deeper connection.”
On3 National Analyst Charles Power is a fan of Williams.
“We like Williams’ combination of range, physicality and cover ability at safety,” Power said. “He has the capability to cover receivers man-to-man on the outside or the slot and flies around as a deep safety. Even though he has a thinner build, Williams is highly physical and has significant striking power as a hitter.”
