Camdin Portis is the son of former Miami running back Clinton Portis. The 2026 cornerback out of Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park knows all about the Hurricanes. He grew up a fan. He followed the program. Portis knows all about the history in Coral Gables.

In April, Mario Cristobal offered the legacy and after visiting for the Florida State game, Portis has committed to Miami. It is the school he grew up following.

“I watched Miami growing up and always wanted to go to Miami,” Portis told On3. “It is a beautiful place and a great school with a lot of tradition. Miami has had a lot of great players play there and it is on its way back up.”

Portis chose the Hurricanes over Auburn, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee. The 6-foot-0, 165-pound Portis is the nation’s No. 292 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 23 cornerback and No. 16 recruit from North Carolina in the class.

Mario Cristobal played at Miami. He won as a player and now he is winning as a coach. Portis is excited about the direction of the program.

“The program hasn’t been where it wants to be for a while, but coach Cristobal is getting some players in and he is getting it back up there. It is different now than what is was before coach Cristobal got there.”

The Hurricanes are 8-0 and competing for an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff spot this season. They have the No. 10 class in 2025 with 22 commitments and Portis is commit No. 3 for 2026 and he expects others to join.

“Who doesn’t want to play for Miami?,” Portis said. “It is in south Florida, there is history, there is a lot to do there and they are starting to build those rooms with players.”
