Miami offers 2023 5-star QB Nico Iamaleava
Mario Cristobal has been at Miami for only a short period of time, and has spent most of his time focusing on the 2022 class.
But he started addressing the 2023 class Saturday when he extended an offer to Downey (Calif.) Warren five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Iamaleava as the No. 13 overall player in the country.
On3 has him slightly higher at No. 10 in the 2023 On300 ranking.
Both the On3 Consensus and On3 have Nico Iamaleava as the third-best quarterback in the country behind Five-Star Plus+ quarterbacks Arch Manning of New Orleans Isidore Newman and Malachi Nelson of Los Alamitos (Calif.).
The Hurricanes signed Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown during the early signing period. Brown is the No. 257 overall player in the 2022 On3 Consensus.

Brown is one of nine players to sign during the early signing period, including Alabama flip and the nation’s top tight end Jaleel Skinner.
Miami also signed four-star quarterbacks Tyler Van Dyke and Jake Garcia in the 2020 and 2021 recruiting class respectively.
But Iamaleava is a legit five-star prospect in the best quarterback class over the last few years.
“Nico Iamaleava was one of ten initial five-stars in On3’s 2023 rankings. he might be the best in 2023 in terms of raw physical tools,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said before the season. “Iamaleava is a fluid mover and has outstanding arm strength. We had the chance to watch him throw in person at Clemson’s camp this summer and came away impressed with the arm talent. Receivers at the camp had trouble handling the velocity on Iamaleava’s throws. Iamaleava’s physical talent has begun to manifest itself on the field, as well.”
