Miami players mock Gator chomp after TD to extend big lead vs. Florida
With Miami up big on Florida in Saturday’s contest, the Hurricanes players took an opportunity to rub it in to their rival. After Cam Ward escaped some pressure to find Jacolby George in the back of the end zone, the receiver busted out the Gator chomp as a celebration.
Fellow receiver Isaiah Horton even came over to join in on the fun. The touchdown was the third of the day for Ward and put the Hurricanes up 38-10 on Florida, with the celebration only adding further insult to injury. You can view the moment below.
All three of Ward’s touchdowns have gone to different receivers and he has completed 23-of-30 passes for 319 yards. It’s been all Miami from the start as the Hurricanes held a 24-10 lead going into halftime.
The Hurricanes would go on the score two straight touchdowns to open the third quarter to extend their lead to 38-10. Ultimately, they would claim a 41-17 victory, scoring the most ever points on Florida when it hosted a home opener.

“Both side of the ball came with it,” Ward said postgame on ABC. “Shout out to the defense. They played good all day. I gave up a couple of points, but it was a good team win. We came out prepared. I feel like this is the most prepared that I’ve been in my college career and I’m just excited we can go 1-0.”
Ward had high expectations coming in from Washington State, where he threw for more than 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season. It’s safe to say he didn’t disappoint and his performance should leave Miami fans excited for what’s in store for the rest of the season.
“You only get a certain amount of times to play football and I’m gonna take advantage of every opportunity that I get,” Ward said. “Something that I wanted to do out of high school is come play in the SEC and I got a chance to do that. So all glory to God. I’m just blessed to be here.”
