A year removed from a marquee matchup falling somewhat flat, Miami and Texas A&M are slated to face off for the second-straight season. And after a 17-9 win in College Station a year ago, the Aggies head to Coral Gables to face the Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium.

And in a matchup between two teams still relatively unproven, odds makers like the Aggies, with Fan Duel listing A&M as a 4.5-point favorite to get the win. Not exactly a massive gulf between these two teams looking to jumpstart bounce-back seasons.

Texas A&M looked offensively dominant in Week 1, rolling up 35 points on New Mexico by halftime. Quarterback Connor Weigman tied a career high in touchdown passes with four in the first frame. Sophomore wideout Evan Stewart had six catches for 103 yards at the break.

The general offensive malaise from 2022 seems to have been shaken off by the Aggies. Texas A&M only scored more than 30 points twice all last season and well eclipsed that figure in just one half of play to start 2023.

And as usual under Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies were stifling on defense.

The Hurricanes started the season strong, romping for a win over Miami (OH), 38-3, after a brief weather delay. Running back Henry Parrish shined, carrying nine times for 90 yards and a score. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke looked crisp, completing 17-of-22 attempts for 201 yards, a touchdown and an interception. All told, the Hurricanes accounted for nearly 500 yards of offense in the opener.

Miami was stingy defensively, too, giving up 51 rushing yards and just nine first downs to the Redhawks.

A year after a bit of a clunker in College Station, Miami and Texas A&M seem poised for an exciting clash in Coral Gables — and Vegas seems to agree.

Kickoff between the two teams is set for 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Texas A&M will be down a freshman receiver for the matchup in all likelihood

Texas A&M will be without receiver Micah Tease for at least the foreseeable future.

Tease was suspended by Texas A&M indefinitely on Sept. 2, according to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle. Zwerneman reports that Tease was arrested the day prior on drug charges.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Tease was charged with possession of a controlled substance and for having less than two ounces of marijuana.

Tease is a freshman who committed to the Aggies last December. He was ranked as the No. 210 overall player in the country for the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings.
