On3 5-Star Countdown: No. 8, WR Micah Hudson
On3 has updated its recruiting ranking for the 2024 class after the completion of dozens of offseason camps, as well as events like the Elite 11 Finals and Overtime 7v7 Finals. Temple (Texas) Lake Belton five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson is the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2024 On300, jumping up from No. 9 overall in On3’s previous ranking release.
The latest edition of On3’s 2024 rankings features 15 five-star players, up from 11 in the previous update in April. Of those 15 prospects, seven are already committed to college programs, with five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman and defensive lineman Justin Scott the latest to come off the board to Texas A&M and Ohio State, respectively.
The 5-foot-11.5, 195-pound Hudson remains uncommitted and is coming off June where Texas Tech was the only school he took an official visit to.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) heavily favors the Red Raiders right now for Hudson at 81.7%.
“Micah Hudson had an official visit to Texas scheduled for last weekend. He did not take it,” On3’s Chad Simmons wrote last month. “Texas Tech had Hudson on campus the weekend before, and the Red Raiders are trending for the elite playmaker. Texas Tech has been a serious contender for months.
…Most assumed the Longhorns would still land Hudson, but his connection with Justin Johnson, the Texas Tech offense and the road to being WR1 in Lubbock have his attention. Some thought he would be publicly committed by now, but he is now. A lot of eyes are on Hudson.
Micah Hudson Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a prospect:
“Dynamic playmaker that you can’t take your eyes off of when you turn on the tape. Can go up and high point the football with ease. Turns hitches, swings and screens into touchdowns. Will run over, through and around defenders with the ball in his hands. Has every tool in the bag when it comes to route running. Ran 11.54 in the 100m, 23.26 in the 200m and jumped a 21’01” long jump as a freshman. Advanced well beyond his years and is one of the best receivers in the nation, regardless of cycle.”
