Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons has been frustrated with the NFL officials all season long. It’s a frustration that he finally shared following Dallas’ win over the Detroit Lions.

He was speaking about finally getting a call for holding, which he feels he should be getting numerous times a game but isn’t.

“First flag I’ve got all year,” Micah Parsons told Jon Machota.

“(I told the ref) ‘Got damn, I hope you didn’t miss that.’ He said, ‘It’s right there on the (field).’ I was like, ‘Oh, shit.’ I was surprised. … I should probably have 50 calls this year,” Micah Parsons continued.

They say you can call holding on every play. That, obviously, doesn’t happen because you need to keep the game moving. So, only the obvious holds get called. Still, it’s surprising that one of the NFL’s best pass rushers just drew his first hold of the season last Sunday.

Even if he is getting hold without getting the call multiple times a game, Micah Parsons isn’t playing like it. Through seven games, he has seven sacks. That’s after he had 13 in 2021 as a rookie.

Micah Parsons was hit with a controversial roughing the passer

There have been several controversial roughing the passer calls in the NFL this season. This comes as the league insists on trying to protect quarterbacks, even if it means more roughing calls.

The play involving Micah Parsons saw him hit Jared Goff as he released the football. Parsons’ helmet may have hit under Goff’s chin, but he didn’t wrap up Goff or fall on him. It’s hard to say this was actually roughing the passer.

NFL officials are being reviewed over autographs

Two NFL officials are being investigated following an incident at the end of the Tampa Bay-Carolina game. They chased after Mike Evans in the tunnel and then appeared to ask for and receive an autograph from him. This is a violation of league policy.

The reason this isn’t allowed is to try and avoid questions about the legitimacy of the game and calls made throughout it. With questions of favoritism and favors being done for calls, there is going to be concern about the referees impacting the outcomes of games.

How long the investigation takes remains to be seen.
