WATCH: 2024 top-55 QB Michael Van Buren unleashes long throw for touchdown
Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren is one of the top signal-callers in the 2024 cycle. He showcased why on Friday night.
As he dropped back in the pocket, Van Buren fired a long pass downfield. It was reeled in by his receiver, who crossed the goal line for a touchdown.
Van Buren is the No. 52 overall prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Maryland.
The 5-foot-11.5, 185-pound prospect, who has led St. Frances Academy to a 7-0 record this season, holds 25 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State is leading for his commitment at 29.1%.
RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
In October, Van Buren told On3’s Chad Simmons that Alabama, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma and Oregon are standing out in his recruitment. Additionally, he has taken multiple visits this fall, including an unofficial on Oct. 29 to the Nittany Lions.
“…If I just feel like I fell in love with a school and I know where I want to go by the time January hits, then that’s when I’ll make my decision,” Van Buren said about a potential decision. “But if it comes to that time, I’ll probably take pretty much all my OVs, then make my decision.”
Van Buren has an On3 NIL Valuation of $78K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
