Somehow, Ryan Day is a popular guy on both sides of the MichiganOhio State rivalry. Day just won the Buckeyes a national championship, ending a decade-long drought. It’s something the head coach has been working toward for a long time and finally saw his goal fulfilled in Atlanta.

But Michigan fans are quite happy with where they currently stand with Day too. The Wolverines have won four straight against Ohio State, dating back to the 2021 season. This season’s win was arguably the sweetest of them all and leads to some trolling.

On Monday, a video was posted of a Michigan fan setting Day up in what appeared to just be a selfie. Right as the two posed, he began to sing his allegiances to Michigan and remind Day of his recent rivalry record. Thankfully, he took the moment well and just walked off with a smile.

“Go Blue, baby. 4-0, 4-0. Let’s Go Blue baby! Attaway Ryan Day! Extend him!”

You can check out the full moment here.

Knowing how emotional Day gets about The Game, the response could have been a lot different. But he was able to laugh things off and keep the moment a civil one. The fan gets a funny video out of it as well, while Day probably goes off remembering the Notre Dame game from a week ago.

Getting one over Michigan will certainly be at the top of Day’s priority list next season. Nov. 29 will be circled everywhere in Columbus, even if the program is looking to devalue the rivalry.

Joshua Perry hopes to keep intensity of Michigan-Ohio State despite national championship

Ohio State winning the national championship has brought a lot of confusion regarding the loss to Michigan. This year made four consecutive defeats in the rivalry for head coach Ryan Day, the lowest moment for the Buckeyes in a while. Just a few weeks later, they were on top of the college football world after a historic College Football Playoff run.

So does this de-emphasize The Game for Ohio State, with proof they can lose to Michigan and still win a national championship? Former player and current Big Ten Network Analyst Joshua Perry says no. He wants Ohio State to have a high level of intensity against Michigan on a yearly basis, no matter the circumstances.

“It certainly feels like that game lost a little bit of the consequence,” Perry said. “Typically, that would be a loss that is disqualifying to compete in the postseason. So, I hope for the players in that building, it’s still one of the program objectives.

“I hope, for fans, they still show up with the same intensity that they have every year before this regardless of what the outcome of this year was. It’s the most special game in college football, in my opinion. I don’t want it to lose any of that feeling.”
