The top two players in the state of Michigan for the 2025 recruiting class are currently committed to schools outside of the Mitten State.

Belleville High School Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Bryce Underwood is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Underwood has been committed to LSU since Jan. 6, when he chose the Tigers over Michigan.

His teammate — four-star athlete Elijah Dotson — committed to Pittsburgh on May 18.

Both Underwood and Dotson are top targets for Michigan’s coaching staff as it approaches National Signing Day for the 2025 recruiting class.

Belleville High School is about a 20-minute drive east of Michigan Stadium. The Tigers hosted Saline for a state playoff game Friday night, and Michigan fans turned out in force for a “Keep Bryce Underwood and Elijah Dotson home” Hailgate Tailgate, according to Local 4 WDIV Detroit.

Underwood is officially visiting LSU on Saturday while the Tigers host Alabama, but Michigan has been turning up the heat on the in-state star. Earlier this month, On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Michigan donors are all-in on helping head coach Sherrone Moore land Underwood.

“Industry sources told On3 that Underwood is expected to land an NIL package valued above $5 million over three to four years, regardless of the program that lands his signature on National Signing Day,” Nakos wrote earlier this month.

Multiple sources also told Nakos that the Wolverines reconnected with the family in the last three weeks and have offered a competitive NIL package on par with what LSU has presented. The Underwoods have stated previously that while NIL will be a factor in where Bryce plays his college football, it won’t be the only one.

“We try to put the cash in the back of the whole situation because whatever his dreams are, we want him to live those out,” Bryce Underwood’s father, Jaquan, told On3 in June at the On3 Elite Series. “The money is going to come when he’s just living his dreams.

… I don’t want to get it twisted, money is a huge deal. At the same time again, man, it’s about Bryce being able to turn his dreams into goals. So whatever field he goes in football, sports, man, I’m great with it as long as long as he’s happy.”

Michigan insider EJ Holland and On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong have both logged expert predictions favoring Michigan to flip Dotson away from Pittsburgh. Dotson officially visited Michigan for the Wolverines’ win over rival Michigan State.

“Michigan is up there in my recruitment for sure. When I was there last weekend, they showed that they care about me. They showed me how I fit in too. I’m comfortable with the team that’s why I’m back on an official visit this weekend.”

Dotson is the nation’s No. 244 overall prospect and No. 2 recruit from the state of Michigan in the On3 Industry Ranking.
