Monroe (NC) High On300 safety Jordan Young flipped his commitment from Clemson to Michigan.

The four-star Young becomes the 20th pledge for head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

“What excites me most about Michigan is the opportunity to be part of such a legendary program and contribute to its legacy,” Young said. “The coaches, the team culture, and the resources here are amazing, both athletically and academically.

“I’m excited about the chance to develop as a player and a student, and to represent a school with such a great tradition.”

The On3 Industry ranks Young as the nation’s No. 13 safety and No. 172 prospect overall. We’re higher at On3 slotting him No. 8 and No. 99 respectively.

Michigan is pushing towards a top five recruiting class in the On3 Industry Recruiting Standings. They ranked No. 8 prior to Young’s flip.

Scouting new Michigan commit Jordan Young

Young is having a terrific senior season and is one of the nations’ top two-way players. In Monroe’s 11-0 campaign to date he has 23 receptions for 521 yards and seven touchdowns adding 22.7 yards per catch. In his career he has 120 receptions for 2,587 yards and 29 touchdowns. On defense he has 33 tackles and six interceptions and forced fumble as a senior with 18 career interceptions and five forced fumbles.

“There’s nothing you can say negative about him,” Monroe High School coach Johnny Sowell said when describing Jordan Young. “When coaches come in, the first thing they say, ‘Can he do this, can he do that,’ and I say everything checks out. I’ve been coaching for nearly 40 years, and we’ve had some great players come through here. We still have one playing in the NFL in Jamison Crowder. Jordan has a chance to be one of the best to ever play here. He’s a special talent who works hard.”

Young committed to Clemson on Nov. 2 but quickly had second thoughts. He flipped behind the scenes to the Wolverines on Nov. 23 and just over a week later is officially in the fold.
