On3's No. 1 CB Davon Benjamin taking Michigan official visit this weekend

Add a huge official visitor to the list for Michigan this weekend.
The Wolverines are a top contender in the recruitment of Corona (Calif.) Oaks Christian four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin. He was in Ann Arbor last month and is now set to return for an official visit this weekend, On3’s Chad Simmons reports.
It will be Benjamin’s first OV. He’s yet to set a schedule for this summer, but told On3 earlier this month that he was looking to log around five or six trips in the coming weeks. Head coach Sherrone Moore and U-M are up first.
During his time on campus last month, Benjamin was impressed with what he saw from the Big Ten program:
“Michigan really impressed me on my visit,” he told Simmons. “There is no way for you not to be successful there. With all that they have, from facilities to the people around the players and how they care about their kids, it sets you up for success. It was a great visit and it really surprised me.”
Benjamin is the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 4 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in California.
On3 ranks the 5-foot-11.5, 165-pounder higher than other recruiting services. Per the 2026 On300, Benjamin ranks No. 20 overall and is also the top-ranked corner in the cycle.

Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel was formerly committed to Florida State, but he landed in Ann Arbor, pledging at the end of April. He’s now the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 9 QB in the cycle.
Billings (Mont.) West four-star tight end Matt Ludwig ranks as a top-100 recruit in the On300 and is one of two TEs in the class, alongside Denver Mullen three-star Mason Bonner. Jacksonville Mandarin four-star cornerback Brody Jennings has been in the class since last July and remains locked in, despite fervent pushes from other Power Four schools.
Cartersville (Ga.) Cass three-star interior offensive lineman Bear McWhorter committed in February. Dallas Parish Episcopal three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile and Washington D.C. St. John’s three-star EDGE Tariq Boney round things out alongside Bonner.
“Everyone that reps that block M is very proud of it and it goes a long way,” McWhorter told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Michigan is an amazing place. Seeing what the team looks like lifting together showed me a lot. I love how they work together and how they love each other. That made me want to be a part of that.”
