Michigan linebacker transfer Jason Hewlett commits to Boston College

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, former Michigan linebacker Jason Hewlett has committed to Boston College. Hewlett will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Eagles. A nice pickup for head coach Bill O’Brien during the spring NCAA transfer portal window.
Hewlett played high school football at Youngstown (OH) Chaney, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 550 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
During the recruiting process, Hewlett was once committed to Cincinnati. The flip to Michigan was not a clean one as there was a decommitment involved. However, the Wolverines were able to get him on board in their 2023 recruiting class.
Just two years were spent in Ann Arbor. Hewlett did not see much playing time, recording three tackles during the 2024 season. All of them were in a Big Ten showdown against the Northwestern Wildcats.
Boston College now brings in Hewlett with the hopes of unlocking some of the potential Michigan thought he had. Having three years to do so is a major plus for them. Hewlett will join the Eagles ahead of his redshirt sophomore campaign.

Hall spent two seasons at Michigan but only appeared in three games during his true freshman season. He made eight appearances last season and finished the year with 29 carries for 72 yards. He also recorded three catches for 12 yards.
Hall played high school football at North Cobb (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,023 overall player and No. 70 running back in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
North Carolina is adding a multi-faceted running back to its roster. In November last year, Benjamin Hall described his game.
“I like to think I can do a little bit of everything,” Hall said. “You turn on the tape, and you can see I can catch out of the backfield, can run down hill, make plays with the ball in my hand. I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do, so I think that my biggest thing is just being able to do a little bit of everything.”
