The availability report for Michigan is out ahead of today’s game against Texas, and the Wolverines will be relatively healthy entering the contest.

Only four players were listed on the availability report, with three out and one questionable.

Michigan will be without defensive back Jaden Mangham, defensive back Rod Moore and wide receiver Joe Taylor. Meanwhile, quarterback Jack Tuttle is questionable for the contest.

It’s a big one for Michigan, too. The program is set to take on a Texas team with equal College Football Playoff hopes, and today’s game will give the winner a big leg up in that pursuit.

Both teams still have some question marks, but one area that Michigan differs from Texas is that the quarterback position is a little less settled. Could that actually work to the Wolverines’ advantage?

A number of college football analysts chimed in to that effect, especially with the availability report not a huge concern.

Urban Meyer recommends two-quarterback system

Michigan is in an unusual predicament, despite its favorable availability report. Two weeks into the season, the Wolverines are still unsure who their best option at quarterback is. On Friday, former Florida and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer offered Michigan some simple advice.

“I’d play them both,” Meyer said. “When I was the head coach of Florida, we had Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. And, I would have our coaches rank the players — top 15 in a row. If you’re in the top 11, you’re playing. Tim Tebow was always in the top 11, so he’s going to play.

Alex Orji — how do you not play this cat? He’s 235 pounds. I think he’s as good a runner, athlete as they have. He’s got to play. So don’t tell me about the scheme. Tell me how you get this kid the ball. He’s got to carry the ball for the Wolverines.”

How Michigan figures out that mix — or whether it will even try — remains to be seen.

Today’s contest between Michigan and Texas is slated for a noon kickoff in the Big House on FOX. And the availability report is, once again, pretty favorable for the Wolverines.
