Report: Michigan State transfer Andrew Depaepe expected to commit to Indiana
Former Michigan State Spartans defensive lineman Andrew Depaepe is joining the Indiana Hoosiers via the the NCAA Transfer Portal, per Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
“Former Michigan State EDGE Andrew Depaepe is expected to transfer to Indiana, sources tell @247Sports,” Zenitz posted on X. “The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Depaepe was a Class of 2023 top-125 overall recruit.”
Andrew Depaepe spent one season with the Spartans, playing against the Washington Huskies in Week 3 for 11 defensive snaps. He did not record a stat during that appearance on the field and he would go on to take a redshirt for the season.
Andrew Depaepe played high school football at Pleasant Valley (Iowa), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 114 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Within Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class, Depaepe was one of eight consensus four-star recruits and was the second-highest-ranked recruit in the class overall. Only fellow defensive lineman Bai Jobe was ranked higher.

The 2023 season was a difficult one for the Michigan State program on and off the field. Head coach Mel Tucker and the program dealt with a scandal that led to Tucker being fired in the middle of the season. He was first replaced by interim coach Harlon Barnett, with the team going 4-8 for the season and ultimately hiring Jonathan Smith to be the next head coach.
After spending the spring with Michigan State, Andrew Depaepe is now going to look to find a new program to restart with in the Hoosiers.
