More on Michigan State vs. Purdue

Purdue is looking to secure its eighth win in a row Sunday afternoon against Michigan State and improve to 21-1 on the season en route to what the Boilermakers will hope to be a season that results in a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State will be playing the role of spoiler in the hopes that they can contain Wooden Award contender Zach Edey. His 21 points and 13 rebounds per game on a 61 percent clip have dominated the ACC, and at 7-foot-4 and nearly 300 pounds, there might not be a player on Michigan State’s roster — let alone the entire country — that can contain the massive Canadian.

That was apparent when these two team matched up for the first time this season back on Jan. 16. Edey finsihed with a ridiculous 32 points and 17 rebounds in a 64-63 victory over the Spartans. Now, Tom Izzo’s squad knows they can hang with the nation’s best team even if they can’t stop the nation’s best player.

Still, you shouldn’t put anything past the veteran head coach, as Izzo probably has a thing or two up his sleeve after the opportunity to see Purdue up close two weeks ago.
