Michigan set to host transfer wide receiver
Former Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley has scheduled his first official visit. The grad transfer is set to visit Michigan on Oct. 26 for its game against Michigan State, a source told On3.
Ole Miss, Missouri, Cincinnati, Miami, Colorado and Michigan are all early schools to watch for the wide receiver. He’s had his best season in 2023, catching 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media.
Michigan has already identified wide receiver as a position it will need to target in the portal. The Wolverines have struggled in the passing game this season, throwing for only 690 total yards in six games. They lost two NFL Draft picks from last season in Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson.
In the final five games of 2023, McCulley caught 28 passes for 420 yards and five touchdowns, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention.

McCulley initially entered the portal last December with plans to leave Indiana, but head coach Curt Cignetti was able to convince the wide receiver to stay for another season. In 2024, he played in four of the first five games for the Hoosiers. His only touchdown catch of the season came in Indiana’s Week 4 win over Maryland, a 12-yard touchdown.
He started his career as a quarterback at Indiana before transitioning to receiver ahead of the 2022 season. As a freshman in 2021, he appeared in six games and made four starts. McCulley accounted for four total touchdowns and threw a pair of interceptions that year.
When the wide receiver entered the portal last year, he received an offer from Michigan and took a visit to Kentucky. He is immediately viewed as one of the top wide receivers available in the transfer portal.
