Former Michigan Wolverines interior offensive lineman Amir Herring has found a new home in the Big 12. After entering into the NCAA transfer portal in late April, Herring has committed to play for the Kansas Jayhawks next season via social media.

Herring made one appearance last season for Michigan, playing in the Wolverines’ 52-7 dismantling of the Indiana Hoosiers. The Michigan native would ultimately redshirt the season and enters the transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining.

Herring played his high school football at West Bloomfield High School in West Bloomfield, MI, where he was a four-star prospect with a 90 rating. He was the No. 311 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, the No. 19 interior lineman prospect, and the 4th best player to come out of the state of Michigan, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Amorion Walker returns to Michigan

As one player exits, another one enters the Wolverines program. Former Ole Miss Rebels cornerback Amorion Walker is returning to the program in which he started his collegiate football career, opting to commit to Michigan and their new head coach, Sherrone Moore.

In his two seasons at Michigan, Walker appeared in 12 games. In the 2023 campaign, he played in five games, tallying three tackles and one pass breakup.

It took Walker just the spring to make his way back into the transfer portal after he opted to head South and join Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss program. The six-foot-four defensive back committed to the Rebels in January, less than a month after the Wolverines captured the national championship. Now, he is on his way back to Ann Arbor, MI, to help assist Moore in Michigan’s title defense.

Walker played high school football at Ponchatoula High School in Ponchatoula, LA, where he was a three-star recruit. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he was rated as the No. 470 overall player in the country in the 2022 cycle.
